General Overview of Ethics and Communication
This blog post will give readers a clear understanding of the notions of ethics and communication, so going forward, the readers will be able to understand the content that will be posted.
Ethics:
Is a way of knowing good and evil and defining moral duties (Pollock, 2016).
• Normative Ethics
• Applied Ethics
• Professional ethics
For the purpose of this blog, the type of ethics that this blog is centered
around is professional ethics, which is a form of applied ethics that speaks to
the application of ethical principles to professional-related issues (Pollock,
2016).
Given that this blog is about "Ethical Issues in Communication," it
is fair to give the definition of ethical issues.
What is an Ethical Issue?
According to Pollock am ethical issue is
"difficult social questions that include the controversy over the right
thing to do" (Pollock, 2016).
It involves communication in a manner that is truthful, clear, respectful, and not offensive and that will not offend an individual in any way possible. Ethical communication involves honesty, confidentiality, and many more(Gordon, 2023).
Non-Verbal Communication: Is communicating without the use of words, there are nine types of non-verbal communication, namely (Gordon, 2031).
• Facial expressions
• Gestures
• Paralinguistics
• Body language and posture
• Proxemics
• Eye Gaze
• Haptics
• Appearance
• Artifacts
